ERT Alentejo e Ribatejo bets on Cycling

A Entidade Regional de Turismo do Alentejo e Ribatejo, in the next few days will start the work for the accomplishment of the 76 cycle paths, incorporated into the eight Cycling Centers.

Until the end of June, the pre-audits of the Cycling Federation of Portugal are also taking place, and the completion of works related to service stations will be carried out in the short term, allowing the opening of the Beirã stations this summer (Marvão), Reguengo (Portalegre), Póvoa e Meadas Dam (Castelo de Vide), Ash and Saw (Round), Ourique and Arronches.

This pilot operation is supported by Turismo de Portugal, will run until the end of 2020 and will provide the visitor with 3,100km, of which 1,369km by mountain bike, 931km of road and 805km of gravel (unpaved paths).

It should be noted that the operation is structured in four Poles (Ribatejo, Sao Mamede, Serra D’Ossa and Baixo Alentejo) in partnership with the municipalities of Coruche, Chamusca, Arronches, Castelo de Vide, Marvão, Portalegre, Borba, Estremoz, Round, Almodovar e Ourique.

Involving countless ‘stakeholders’ this operation aims to meet the growing demand of the national and international market for Cycling routes.

It should be added that the eight Cycling Centers to be implemented will articulate with those of the Rota Vicentina and with the municipality of Serpa, effecting a strategic coordination of Turismo do Alentejo and Ribatejo in the offer of this segment.
