Portugal maintains suspension of commercial or private flights to or from Brazil and the United Kingdom, at least until the next day 1 de Março.
Second order published Friday by the Government, as in the previous state of emergency period, only flights of a humanitarian nature continue to be permitted, for repatriation of national citizens, European Union and countries associated with the Schengen Area, and their family, as well as third country nationals legally residing in national territory.
In a statement sent to newsrooms, the Ministry of Internal Affairs says that air traffic restrictive measures will remain in effect until 1 de Março, due to the epidemiological situation caused by Covid-19.
Contudo, citizens authorized to travel must provide proof of laboratory testing (RT-PCR) for screening for SARS-CoV-2 infection, with negative result, carried out on 72 hours prior to departure, except children under two years, and have to comply 14 days of prophylactic isolation and wait for the connecting flight to the respective countries in a specific place inside the airport.
Repatriation flights for foreign citizens who are in mainland Portugal are also allowed.
Passengers from countries that have an incidence rate equal to or greater than 500 cases by 100.000 inhabitants have, beyond the test, to also complete a period of prophylactic isolation from 14 dias, except when the stay in national territory does not exceed 48 hours.
Entretanto, in statements to the British newspaper Daily Telegraph, the foreign minister said that travel restrictions between Portugal and the UK should be lifted before the summer, but should be kept for a few more weeks.
Augusto Santos Silva said that the current confinement in Portugal, that determined the closure of schools, lojas, restaurants and bars, is starting to reduce infection rates.
