Turismo de Portugal was voted Best Agency official tourism in Europe (Europe's Leading Tourist Board) de 2019, a distinction awarded by industry professionals voted for the World Travel Awards - Europe edition, Awards treated as 'Oscars' of tourism, whose ceremony took place in Funchal, Madeira.
This is the sixth consecutive year that the National Tourist Authority receives award, o que, to its president Luís Araújo, é, acima de tudo, a recognition of the excellence of all employees of the Tourism of Portugal, diariamente, show live up to this enormous challenge of leading the future of tourism.
Portugal was the winner of the gala, winning the award for Best European Destination, for the third consecutive year.
Also the capital again been recognized as the Best City Break Destination in Europe and Best European Cruise Port. The Algarve was distinguished as Best European Beach Destination and, a Madeira, Insular as Best Destination. No total, and in the various categories, Portugal received 39 prizes (three more than in 2018).
The World Travel Awards were awarded in 1993, distinguishing the work in the tourist industry, in order to stimulate competitiveness and quality of tourism. The selection of winners is held worldwide, by industry professionals.
