A rural tourism unit has just opened in the historic center of Góis, next to the Ceira river. Using European funds, the company Trans Serrano invested 300 thousand euros in the hotel development, com 13 quartos.
The Vale do Ceira Country House, next to the Fluvial Beach of Peneda, is a rural tourism unit with which the adventure company, leisure and tourism aims to mitigate the shortage of accommodation in Góis, a mountainous municipality within the district of Coimbra.
In the first decade of this century, the businessman and family bought the building from the end of the 19th century and the old surrounding agricultural space, with an approximate area of 1,5 hectares.
This is the reconstruction of a house from the end of the 19th century that was in very bad condition, with excellent location and accessibility and which will have options for adventure activities and tours, taking advantage of the natural potential of the Ceira valley and the theme of the National Road 2, involving an approximate area of 1,5 hectares, including an agricultural space.
According to the businessman, in a second phase, the project will include investments in exterior arrangements and a recovery for tourism purposes, the agricultural suitability of the adjacent land, near the Royal Bridge, architecture in Manueline style, ordered to be built by King D. João III and restored at the end of the last decade.
