APAVT welcomes the decision of the Government of the Azores

A Associação Portuguesa das Agências de Viagens e Turismo (APAVT) commends the Regional Government of the Azores for the initiative to launch a program to support the payment of fixed costs for Azorean travel agencies, among other economic sectors related to Tourism, program that includes non-refundable support, até 75%, an important series of corporate costs, namely rents and rentals, electricity, water, safe, and communications. A notice, refira-se, already advanced by Opção Turismo in previous edition.

Following the example of the Government of the Azores, APAVT calls for the development of similar measures for application in the rest of the country, thus contributing to a more coherent and homogeneous national economic recovery capacity, the only way to ensure the employment and dignity of thousands and thousands of workers in our country.

The Regional Government of the Azores, this measure (Government Resolution 236/2020), integrates in an absolutely coherent and assertive way, a global strategy to control unemployment, por um lado, and business survival, por outro, a fact that will allow this fascinating tourist destination to be better prepared for the economic recovery, once international mobility returns.

Pedro Costa Ferreira, presidente da APAVT, not only congratulates the Azores on this measure but also hopes and wishes that measures of this nature and dimension reach more regions of Portugal.

Only in this way will we be working coherently in the preparation of our country's economic recovery and in the efficient management of unemployment figures, stressed the president of APAVT.
