Airbnb: quase 5 million in tourist tax in Portugal

 

Airbnb has just announced that generated revenues of 3,1 millions of euros in tourist rates during 2017 em Portugal (Since the beginning of the year so far).

Based on partnership between the Airbnb and the Lisbon City Council, on the collection of tourist tax in value of one euro per night in the capital, desde 1 de maio de 2016 Airbnb has already collected and delivered to the authorities of the municipality of Lisbon a total of almost 5 million euros.

At the beginning of may 2016 Airbnb began the collection and delivery of the figures relating to the tourist rate paid by the guests, on behalf of the hosts, concerning overnight stays in Lisbon, becoming the only platform of its kind with this type of agreement with the authorities of the municipality of Lisbon.

Em 2014 Airbnb began to collect and remit to the authorities from San Francisco and Portland, EUA, tourist fees applied to hotels and other tourist services. Today this program is in effect in more than 340 jurisdictions around the world and continues to grow. At a time when cities are working with increasingly hard to monetize every euro or dollar, Airbnb can be a valuable partner in strengthening the economies of cities.

These rates may be an important source of revenue for Governments. Since our first agreements with the cities in 2014, We collected more than 430 million in hotel rates, occupancy and tourist around the world. In some cities, the revenue generated by this tax are a significant source of new income and your growth is likely to be dependent on the enlargement of the community Airbnb.

A partir de 1 December Airbnb launches in Portugal a new tool for new users of the platform, making it easier to enter the hosts your registration number on your ad page.

It should be noted that the Platform continues to encourage users to comply with local regulations, keeping them, ao mesmo tempo, informed and updated about new legislation or amendments to laws that may exist.
