Madeira will be elected 'Favorite Destination' by the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agents – APAVT in 2021, being the third time, and the second consecutive, that the archipelago receives this distinction.
APAVT's ‘Preferred Destination’ is an annual project that aims to boost tourist flows to a particular destination, through marketing work, as well as at the technical level, in partnership with national tour operators and travel agents.
It should be recalled that already in 2020 e em 2016, Madeira Destination had also been chosen as APAVT's 'Favorite Destination', which contributed to the continued growth of national tourism for the Region.
Mesmo em 2020, and taking into account the restrictions of the pandemic, the national market registered very positive results for Madeira and Porto Santo.
To mark the moment, APAVT organizes today (26) and beginning at 3:00 pm, together with the Madeira Promotion Association-APM, a webinar to present the project “Madeira: Preferred APAVT 2021 Destination ”. This presentation will be chaired by the Regional Secretary for Tourism and Culture of Madeira and President of APM, Eduardo Jesus, and by the president of the APAVT Board, Pedro Costa Ferreira, and will also be attended by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques.
The Regional Secretary of Tourism and Culture and president of the Promotion Association of Madeira, Eduardo Jesus, underlines that this is a moment of great happiness and consideration with Madeira, by the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies and stresses that the relationship between the Regional Government and APAVT has always been guided by common and enthusiastic involvement, over all these years. Por isso, Eduardo Jesus stresses to be with a determined attitude towards innovation that aims to develop this partnership with APAVT.
Eduardo Jesus adds that this moment is understood as ideal to promote the overcoming of the challenges that the pandemic brought us, believing that, as at other heights, APAVT and all its associates will be part of a process that is expected to be the most successful.
Por sua vez, Pedro Costa Ferreira, claims it is with great joy and motivation that we welcome Madeira as our Favorite Destination 2021. And justifies, pointing out three reasons:
Because we are going to work with a great tourist destination, which has played an even more relevant role in combating the global tourism paralysis. Because we are going to work with a team we know, admire and in which we have many friends. Because we are looking forward to talking about tourism again, of Tourists, of economic activity.
To conclude, the president of APAVT says that in adversity, we will know how to build a better future, e, claro, contribute to many tourists in Madeira and Porto Santo.
