20 million euros for the 1st dose of the “Transforming Tourism”

The “Transforming Tourism” program, provided for in the Plan to Reactivate Tourism and which has a financial allocation of 20 milhões de euros, was presented in Elvas by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques,

According to the ruler, this “Transforming Tourism” program was already provided for in the Reactivate Tourism Plan, having an endowment of 20 million euros in this first phase.

Applications can be formally entered on the Turismo de Portugal platforms, a partir do dia 10 de Janeiro, and the eligible entities are public entities and private entities.

The presentation of the program took place at Forte da Graça, in Elvas, having Rita Marques explained that the priorities of the “Transforming Tourism” program involve responding to current challenges, such as sustainability, higher levels of accessibility, inclusion or digitization, with the aim of helping to better structure tourist products.

For the Secretary of State, the “Transforming Tourism” program results from the experience acquired through the Valorizar Program, that exists since 2016/2017 and it will still continue for some time to come., because there are projects that continue to be supported, are running, but when they are completed, it will be replaced in full by the “Transforming Tourism” program.

During the ceremony, the second axis of the Action Plan Boosting Frontier Fortresses was also presented, lançado em 2018, que reúne 62 fortresses and aims to bring together mechanisms to streamline these properties and extend the stay of tourists in the territory.
