Turismo de Portugal presented Tourism Plan + Sustainable 20-23

The Tourism Plan + Sustainable 20-23 already and presented yesterday (26) in a public session at the headquarters of Turismo de Portugal, em Lisboa, was attended by the Secretaries of State for Tourism and the Environment, respectivamente, Rita Marques, and Inês dos Santos Costa.

Among the goals to be achieved in 2023, Turismo de Portugal wants to not only increase 50% tourist developments with energy efficiency systems, water and waste management, as well as the disposal of single-use plastic in 50% of four and five star tourist developments.

The plan also envisages reaching 2023 os 25.000 tourism enterprises adhering to the ‘Clean seal & Safe’

These goals fall within the four strategic axes contemplated in the plan: structure an increasingly sustainable offer, qualify sector agents, promote Portugal as a sustainable destination and monitor the sector's sustainability metrics, according to the document.

The Tourism Plan + Sustainable 20-23 going to be in public consultation until 26 January and covers more than 70 projects and actions, that aim to respond to the urgency of sustainability challenges defined worldwide, European and national, being “aligned with the objectives of the Tourism Strategy 2027 and the post-covid-19 sector recovery policy.
