Qatar Airways develops partnership with IATA

Qatar Airways announced the official launch of the carbon offset program.

Airline passengers now have the opportunity to compensate, voluntarily, carbon emissions associated with the trip itself, when booking.

Qatar Airways' carbon offset program is part of a partnership with the International Air Transport Association's Carbon Offset Program (IATA).

This project aims to assure the airline's customers that the purchased credits are used in projects that provide proven carbon reductions, that contribute to the environmental and social benefit.

Passengers can opt for Qatar Airways' carbon offset program when purchasing tickets through the airline's website and mobile application.

The project consists of 54 wind turbines, installed in the villages of Taluk Dewas, Tonkkhurd e Tarana Taluk, in the Dewas and Ujjain districts, in Madhya Pradesh (India).

Turbines move electricity, generated from fossil fuel sources in the Indian network, reducing the global carbon intensity. This project avoids annually 210.000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
