The wines selected in the 2nd quarter – II

As we mentioned a few days ago, is more than proven than the rubric “to our wine” it was an unexpected success. Not only for its high number of openings but also for the receptivity it has had.

Nesse sentido, throughout this week, we will present, by chance, the selected wines or more to the liking of readers (it's ours, também!), in the second quarter of 2021.

High Score Harvest Red Douro 2019

Service:
It should be served with well-seasoned grilled red meat, hunting and sausage, and some types of cheese.
Wine made using the traditional method of foot treading, allowing an excellent extraction of the grapes, aging for about nine months in French oak barrels, structured and complex wine with lots of red fruit, with a touch of jam.

Winemaking:
a varietal sui generis with Alvarinho grapes from 2 distinct terroirs in the Vinho Verde Region, giving a unique personality to the queen variety of Portuguese white wines.
The harvest is at night to guarantee the freshness of the grapes and the maintenance of their aromatic properties.
In the winemaking center, these are subjected to a gentle pressing at low pressure.
Alcoholic fermentation is carried out at controlled temperatures, followed by aging in a stainless steel tank, during which the lees are kept in suspension, allowing to give structure to the wine and extract the maximum amount of aromas from the variety.
Test results:
Pale lemon yellow with golden streaks. Aveleda Alvarinho 2020 has discreet aromas of grapefruit, lime and white flowers on the nose. In the mouth it is surprisingly structured and velvety, revealing more intense notes of orange peel and orange blossom.

This wine is the ultimate expression of the Guedes Family's passion for wine and the Region's most iconic blend.
The harvest is at night to ensure the freshness of the grapes and the consequent preservation of their aromatic properties. Upon arrival at the winemaking center, these are subjected to a gentle pressing at low pressures..
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures to maintain the most typical aromas of the varieties. During fermentation the lees are kept in suspension to preserve the freshness of the wine.
Tasting Notes:
Lemon yellow tones and a crystalline halo, the Aveleda Loureiro & Alvarinho is a wine defined by its harmony: the exuberant white flowers and citrus aromas of Loureiro blend perfectly with the velvety smoothness and body of Alvarinho. On the palate it is very tasty, with a perfect freshness and balance. A wine full of personality.

QUINTA DOS MONTEIRINHOS

Afonso boy is a blend red made up of the main varieties of the Dão region: Touriga Nacional (60%), Tinta Roriz (20%) and Jaen (20%).

A complex red fruit wine that has aged 15 months in French oak barrels.

This red is excellent to accompany meat and fish dishes in the oven.

must be open 15 minutes before being consumed at a temperature of 16º-18ºC.

 


grandfather António is a 100% crossroads, which aged for nine months in French oak barrels.

It has citrus and mineral aromas, is balanced in acidity, volume and structure.

This white is excellent to accompany fish, seafood, cheeses and salads.

Should be consumed at a temperature of 6 a 10°C.

 


Rosa Maria is a 100% Touriga Nacional, a dry wine, mineral and refreshing, with elegant notes of red fruits.

This Rosé is excellent to accompany fish, seafood, cheeses and salads.

Should be consumed at a temperature of 4 a 6°C.
