Moroccan Operators Demand Open Borders

About two hundred Moroccan tour operators gathered last week in front of the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism, in Rabat, to protest the closure of borders that has kept the country free of tourists from day one 29 November and until the next day 31 de Janeiro.

Employers and workers in the tourism sector demand the reopening of borders that “save”, as far as possible, an industry that is on the edge, since Morocco has been one of the strictest countries when it comes to containing the spread of Covid infections and has kept its borders closed for long periods of time..

For Moroccan tour operators, the government's restricted measures only harm Moroccan tourism and benefit competing destinations, like egypt, Turquia, Emirates and others, since all scheduled reservations have been canceled in favor of these destinations.

‎The President of the Regional Association of Tourist Guides of the Agadir region, Hassan Boutkayout,‎‎ points out that the new restrictions have further aggravated the difficult situation they have been living for two years.‎

Generally, the months of ‎‎Novembro, Dezembro, January and February constitute the high season,‎‎ mainly graças to cruises, said the representative of the tour guides Agadir, adding that about 4.000 families depend on tourism in the region.‎
