O Instituto Nacional de Estatística (INE) confirmed the recovery of tourist activity in August, despite the drop in 43,2% in guests and 47,1% in those asleep in the face of the homologous period of the previous year.
INE explains that the figures for the tourist activity in August are in line with the forecasts at the beginning of the month, in the quick estimate, only with a slight difference in the reduction in overnight stays (47,2% in the initial estimate), representing a recovery in activity strongly impacted by the covid-19 pandemic, after the descents of 63,8% e 67,8% de Julho.
With regard to the tourist accommodation sector (hotelaria, local accommodation with 10 or more beds and rural / housing tourism) registered so 1,9 milhões de hóspedes e 5,1 million overnight stays in August, according to the same data now released by INE, which adds that residents' overnight stays decreased 2,1% (-29,4% in July) and non-residents retreated 72,0% (-84,7% in the previous month).
Por sua vez, total income decreased by 48,9% (after the descent from 69,8% em Julho), fixando-se em 326,5 milhões de euros.
Os proveitos de aposento, por sua vez, hit the 258,5 milhões de euros, decreasing 49,2% (-69,8% in the previous month).
