British government "cuts" VAT on tourism and catering

The British government announced a temporary VAT cut in the catering and tourism sectors, de 20% to five percent, in the next six months – até 12 de Janeiro -, as well as a discount scheme to encourage people to eat out.

A decision announced by the British Finance Minister, Rishi Sunak, which also added the fact that his government will offer a discount of 50%, until about 11 euros (10 libras), in cafes meals, restaurants and ‘pubs’ across the UK, Monday to Wednesday and during the next month of August.

Para tal, adhering establishments must register with the “Eat Out to Help Out” ("Eat out to help"), will be refunded within five working days.
