As the Opção Turismo previously mentioned, the Portuguese airline euroAtlantic Airways (EAA) presented to the Timorese government the proposal for a monthly charter flight between Lisbon and Nicolau Lobato Airport, in Dili. In principle, this flight would take place during the covid-19 pandemic, something that, by now, it is still undefined.
EAA justifying that this is a possibility in the market and also because there are no connections between Timor-Leste and Europe and Lisbon.
The idea, not yet completed - at least at this time - EAA would have a monthly charter flight, linking Lisbon to Dili.
According to sources linked to the process, the Timorese government showed openness when it was presented with the proposal that, entretanto, should be analyzed by the Timor-Leste Ministry of Transport.
Remember that operating a flight 20 hours between the two countries is an operation that has high costs and is only justified if there is a sufficient number of passengers or with the will of support from the governments of Portugal and Timor-Leste.
