Two-euro carbon tax created

The measure now approved and to which the low cost easyJet ‘protested’, predicts that a carbon tax on air travel consumers will be introduced over the next year, sea ​​and river, worth two euros per passenger, whose revenues revert to the Environmental Fund.

These revenues that should be applied, second or PAN, railroad financing and reducing emissions from the road sector, designadamente, improving and increasing the availability of public transport and methods of transport with lower CO2 emissions.

The fee is levied on the issuance of commercial air transport tickets for passengers departing from airports and aerodromes located in Portuguese territory and on the docking of passenger ships at port terminals located in mainland Portugal for supply, Repair, passenger embarkation or disembarkation, respectivamente, also refers to the proposal.
