Applications for the ‘Algarve Carft awards & Food, that will distinguish the best handicraft products, gastronomy and tourist programs in the region, take place until 30 de Dezembro.
The aim is to enhance the offer of cultural and creative tourism, by valuing the unique specifics of the destination, nomeadamente, traditions, costumes, heritage and local food products.
Esta iniciativa, which has a cash prize of 15 thousand euros distributed equally among the winners of the three categories in the competition, is open to producers, artesãos, designers, regional chefs and tour agents.
Developed by the Algarve Tourism Region in partnership with Tertúlia Algarvia and QRER – Cooperative for the Development of Low Density Territories, o ‘Algarve Craft & Food’ was released in February 2020.
This is a strategic project for the region., as it intends to create and promote differentiating tourist experiences, sustainable nature, especially in traditionally places with lower turnout, such as rural areas and the interior Algarve. By supporting the preservation and revitalization of traditional practices and customs, it also aims to contribute to increasing the income sources of artisans and local food producers.
