António Costa wants a TAP more than Lisbon

Prime Minister António Costa warned that TAP must be an airline of the country and of the Portuguese, and not just from Lisbon.

António Costa's statements respond to some demands from both the North of Portugal and the Algarve, who have criticized TAP's concentration policy in the Lisbon hub, forgetting these regions a little, even now in the more muscular resumption of the operation.

In an interview this Monday with TVI António Costa stresses that the clear indication that the State has given to TAP is that you must be aware that it cannot be a Lisbon company. It must be a company of the country, dos portugueses. It has an essential function of ensuring the connection to the entire national territory, to Portuguese communities around the world, besides being an essential instrument for the internationalization of our economy and tourism.

The Prime Minister recalled that a restructuring plan is underway, which has yet to receive the green light from the Competition Directorate in Brussels, not ruling out redundancies

The Chief Executive stressed that there is no alternative, referring to often a company, to survive and to protect the essentials of your activity and the essentials of your jobs, have to sacrifice some, mainly in circumstances as adverse as those currently experienced.
