Algarve project creates value for crafts and cuisine

It is referred to as' Algarve Craft&Food’, a project that the Algarve Tourism has just launched with the aim of developing and promoting the traditions, a gastronomia, culture and natural heritage as assets to enhance the cultural tourism offer and creative region.

Developed in partnership with Algarvian Tertulia, the QRER - Cooperative Development of Low Density Territories and the Algarve Tourism Association, the project aims to create and promote distinctive tourist experiences, sustainable nature, especially in traditionally places with lower turnout, such as rural areas and the interior Algarve.

This project will support the preservation and revitalization of traditional practices and customs, increasing the sources of income of artisans and local food producers.

Para tal , It will develop a set of activities, besides allowing disclose the offer of the region in the cultural and creative tourism industry, from the national and international markets (US and Europe), is simultaneously empowering artisans and producers agri-food places so that, together with designers and chefs, engage in innovation and development of products and programs with tourism potential.

Examples include the realization of creative and technical workshops homes for artisans, designers, local producers and agricultural food chefs; creative workshops of traditional cuisine Algarve; a seminar on international crafts and local food; the development of 5 new craft products and ten new cultural and creative tourism programs, focused on these products. The project also provides for the training of these agents and internationalization in European markets such as Spain and emerging markets such as the United States and the creation of 'Craft Award&Food’.
